That's Canvas and ambassador smashed together to form a word that maybe shouldn't, but does, exist.
Like we said previously, a Canvassador is a Canvas ambassador. They are leaders, innovators, forward-thinkers, and tech enthusiasts who are committed to making education better through technology. Sure, they love Canvas, but more importantly, Canvassadors are passionate about education and want to share their experiences and expertise to help other educators.
And since they have such an intimate understanding of Canvas, from time-to-time, they even advise Instructure on how we can make improvements to Canvas.
Cavassadors are educators at heart and are committed to being an active part of improving education—they do a lot more than just tell other people about Canvas. Canvassadors network with peers and present compelling ideas at tradeshows and events. They write blogs, host webinars, and participate in discussion boards focused on education, technology, and innovation. They are active in social communities and are continually taking part in activities to keep education moving forward.
Tracey DeLillo has been a Canvas administrator at the Alamo Colleges District for almost six years. Beginning as a campus-level admin and trainer during the migration from a previous LMS, she is now the lead Canvas admin for the district, and manages all system-wide educational technology tools. Her elevator pitch states that “her mission is to assist faculty, staff, and students throughout the district as they traverse the ever-changing educational technology landscape.” She has given presentations at local, regional, and national conferences, and her favorite Canvas topics are integrations and the Canvas Community. She accidentally knows a ridiculous amount about cross-listing courses.
"Canvas has made ALL the difference in my career. It was literally my first week after moving from librarian to instructional designer that I was informed that our new LMS was about to be implemented, and I would be the administrator and trainer for our college. I think being so new to LMS administration prompted a somewhat obsessive desire to know everything I could about the system. Knowledge led to expertise and enthusiasm, beyond anything I had achieved in prior jobs. Also, the openness of Canvas and the genuine friendliness of the Instructure staff changed my whole perception of what educational technology–and educational technology businesses–were capable of. It is a joy to share my Canvas story and knowledge with others, because I know how pleased they will be with both the product and the company that provides it."
